With so many “money making” schemes and apps that claim to save or even make you money on the market today, it’s no wonder we get skeptical when someone raves to us about some new app that is making them money.

I will admit…this was 100% me when I first heard about Ibotta. My first thought was, “ok, soooo what’s the catch?”

But then I decided to try it for myself and find out. Now, I am here to give you a full Ibotta App Review based on my experience!

In short… Does Ibotta work? Spoiler alert…. Yes it does.

In fact, if you sign up and use my referral code – moiqdjn – or click THIS LINK to sign up you will earn $10 in cash right away, without even using the app yet, with the possibility to earn another $10.00! (the extra $10 is a limited time offer, so geeet it.)

$10 just for signing up with my referral link guys…. That’s FREE money right there.

Still skeptical? Ya, I don’t blame you.

Let’s chat shall we?  🙂

What is Ibotta anyway, and how does it work?

Ibotta is a mobile app that allows you to earn cash back on in-store and mobile purchases with a receipt and/or purchase verification.

Essentially you are getting rebates on purchased items, and once you reach $20 in rebates, you can cash it in via paypal, venmo, or a wide variety of gift cards that the app offers!

Ibotta regularly has coupons (usually around 25 cents off) that work on items like milk, bread, butter, eggs, shredded cheese, apples, and yogurt, and a lot of times they can be ANY BRAND!

They also commonly have coupons for $2-$7 off of certain brands of beer, and anywhere from 75 cents to a few dollars off certain types of juices as well.

And that is certainly not all.

I have saved money on pull ups, wipes, baby food, makeup remover, (and Revelon makeup) ketchup, mayonnaise, cuties oranges (which my kids LOVE) applesauce, sausages, packs of chicken, yogurt squeeze pouches, pasta and pasta sauce, and a TON more.

It may not be huge savings amounts for each individual item, but it really adds up fast!

A lot of people roll their eyes at the idea of any kind of couponing because it can be easy to use coupons on items that you don’t really need. Meaning you are not really saving any money in the long run.

I get that, and it is a huge reason why I don’t spend time doing regular couponing.

But Ibotta is different people. It actually has necessary and extremely useful items that are regularly available, and it works for so many different stores!  (Including online shops and stores other than just grocery stores!)

And it takes a fraction of the amount of time that regular couponing takes.

Saving you time AND money….. ummm no brainer right?

Here is that link again… ya know… In case you’re ready to earn that $10-$20 yet. 😉 – Click Here!

So the gist of it is this – You log in, (make 10 free bucks right away)  search for a store you hope to find rebates for, (there are a TON of them) find offers, save them, and either scan the items in the store, or just scan in your receipt when you are done shopping! Then you just claim your rebate and your money will be to you within hours…

Guys, here is the deal… when life gives you an easy way too save moolah, fricken make amazing lemonade.. K?

I don’t think that made any sense, and yet, I think you know EXACTLY what I mean… am I right?

K. Moving on…

There is more amazing-ness…

Being on a team can also earn you rebates!! Which is a huge reason why you want to use my link…. because I can help you earn extra cash back just by meeting goals in savings each month.

You think I’m full of bologna??

I’m not!! I am on a friends team who was killing it with ibotta and using it to buy her Christmas presents for people, and we have helped each other earn extra cash back before…

JUST BY USING THE APP TO SAVE MONEY!

Within my first few months using the app I was able to make enough to cash out on two gift cards for Christmas gifts… I mean. That is pretty awesome. And I hardly ever used the coupons on things that I wouldn’t have bought anyways.

The money transfers really quickly too. Once you have reached the $20 cash out threshold, you can simply click the redeem cash button and do what you’d like with it. Ibotta says it may take up to 24 hours to transfer, but I have never had it take longer than an hour.

It probably takes a ton of time for not a lot of savings right??

Nope!! Actually it doesn’t!

Usually after I convince someone that this does actually save and make me money, their next question is, but how much time does it take?

It really does not take a lot of time at all.

Right before I wrote this post I made a grocery list and then checked Ibotta for what rebate offers they had for Wegmans. (seems that is where I plan on shopping tomorrow… Oh Wegmans. How I love you…)

I saved 10 offers in less than 5 minutes, (sometimes you have to watch little 15 second videos when you save an offer) and it takes about 2 minutes or less to scan in your receipt later to redeem your offers. There is a scanner right in the app so it is easy peasy.

Regular cut-out coupons are great too if you have the time, but ibotta is SO easy, takes hardly any time, and can really save you some decent money!

Those 10 offers I saved? If I use them all (which I probably will with the exception of maybe one)  I will save $14.05 on tomorrow’s grocery bill….

GUYS. That’s tooootally worth the 5 minutes it took me to save those offers!!

Now, one reason it is so high is because there was a really good offer ($7.00 off!) on my husbands favorite beer this week! LOL… BUT even if I don’t use that, I would still save $7.05. Multiply that by 52 (the number of weeks in a year, assuming you go grocery shopping once a week like I do.) and that has saved you $366.60 on groceries in one year.

That’s nuts guys. That is 6 hours a year spent saving offers so you can make/save somewhere around $366 a year. That’s like making $61 an hour ya’ll!!

And that is not even including your team bonuses that you can earn as well. 🙂

Every now and then the offers are kind of hit or miss… so let’s just say you only save $150 a year on groceries. To me, that is still WAY worth the very little effort it take to use Ibotta. (that is still like $25 per hour which ain’t too shabby!)

SO to sum it up…

Ibotta may be for you if:

  • You want to save money grocery shopping and at tons of other stores too, but don’t have the time or desire to search for and cut coupons. (you can also use it for online shopping, HELLO, Ibotta added none other than AMAZON to their list of shops… WWAAAAHHH!)
  •  If you already ARE a couponer! Why not save even MORE… Oh, PS you can use Ibotta on top of store deals too. WOOT!!
  • If you enjoy saving/making money by doing hardly any work… 😉

Ibotta may NOT be for you if:

  • You cannot turn down a good deal – Ibotta has a lot of good offers, but you wont be saving any money if you buy aaaallll the things…. 🙂
  • If you hate saving money….. LOL…. Who is that even!?!?!?

So listen… If you’re trying to find ways to save money, which you probably are if you’re reading this… you need this in your life!! It is just such an easy, quick, no-brainer way to save cash, and make a little too!

So Imma’ show you this good ol’ link one more time…. so you can sign up and earn your first $10 -$20 bonus. 🙂

…ya just gotta Ibotta!

  1. You have done a great job at making this app sound neat. I had the app and signed up, but never used it because I just wasn’t sure how. Now that I’ve read this post, I opened the app again and tried hard to input your referral code, but it just says I’m already signed up. :-p So much for that idea!
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to explain this better. I appreciate it and look forward to seeing how much I can save.

  2. Hey, Rae!
I have to admit, I have tried a couple different apps that make such wonderful promises, just like you said at the beginning of the post. but this actually sounds like a good deal! And I mean, I can start with $10 right away? That is already awesome by itself!
I’m definitely downloading it right now and using your referral, thank you so much for sharing this with us!
    Have a wonderful weekend,
    Barbara.

  3. Hi Rae,

I think Ibotta is awesome, and your review nailed it. I love that I can just scan the barcodes on my receipts and get credit. It really is a penny saver and those pennies add up quick.
